The Rock: Day Two

The Rock: Day Two

posted on July 16, 2016

Our morning began with haze, but by 10am the clouds had lifted revealing a dramatic landscape.

With our camp at Shallow Bay (the blue dot) we decided to start by exploring the western coastline within Gros Morne National Park.

Our first excursion was a brisk morning hike out to Western Brook Pond. We would’ve taken the boat tour, but Fletcher wasn’t allowed (no matter how cute and fluffy the attendant thought he was).

Afterwards we headed to Rocky Harbour for a fresh seafood lunch at Java Jack’s.

Then it was time to get our laundry done.

Laundry’s no fun, but it gave us more time to stare out at the sea.

Then we popped into Norris Point…

…and ended the afternoon at Lobster Cove Lighthouse.

We found our way down to the sea and explored the alien landscape.

What a day! What a place!
