Beautiful. Remote. Perfect.
I didn’t know it at the time, but this would be Ruby Jean’s final night at camp.

I didn’t know it at the time, but this would be Ruby Jean’s final night at camp.

Meanwhile, 90 minutes from the nearest small town and cell signal…
I wonder how many cowboys riding by on their horses imagined the kind of music that was happening in that little off-grid trailer…
My time in the Big Horns was some of the most peaceful camping I’ve ever done. But eventually it was time to move on and the Wind River Range was calling my name…
This was the only place in the Big Horn range where I could get a cell phone signal.

Located on Medicine Mountain, the Medicine Wheel is one of North America’s most well preserved Native American sacred places.
It’s at least 250 years old. Even today, the site is sacred to many different tribes across the US.

Offerings tied to the rope fence or left within the wheel are from those who have made the pilgrimage to the site. Ceremonies still take place here regularly.

I was accompanied by crows during my hike out. A few even stopped and talked with me for a while.
