Hidden Wonders Near the Green Mountains

Hidden Wonders Near the Green Mountains

posted on October 21, 2016

During our stay in the Green Mountains, we decided to explore a few sites suggested by Atlas Obscura. Our first stop was the Bridge of Flowers.

Alison enters the Bridge of Flowers

As you might expect, the Bridge of Flowers features a whole lot of flowers.

It’s located in beautiful Shelburne Falls, MA which also happens to have an unusual set of geologic features known as “Glacial Potholes”.

Watch out for Glacial Potholes

Some are as small as 6 inches in diameter while others are more than 30 feet wide!

And while they’re not especially unusual, the falls at Shelburne Falls are quite nice too.

In nearby Montague, MA you’ll find the Bookmill, one of Alison’s favorite bookstores.

And what’s not to like? A huge used book store in an old mill that overlooks the Saw Mill River…

…and they serve fine coffee!
